Turin

Welcome,

The UOS Torino is hosted by the Molecular Biotechnology Center (dept. of Molecular Biotechnology and Health Sciences) of the University of Torino.

The UOS possesses expertise concerning the synthesis, the physico-chemical characterization both in vitro and in vivo of a new series of contrast agents for various imaging techniques, including MRI, optical imaging and optoacoustic and nuclear imaging techiniques(PET/SPECT), thanks to the availability of equipment that covers all of these imaging modalities. The unit also employs researchers with extensive experience in the development of animal models, in vitro cultures of hepatocytes and spermatogonial cells/embryo, modulation of gene expression (with shRNA silencing or over-expression with cDNA), microsurgery mice, generation of immune-compromised mice with metabolic diseases.

The UOS is well equipped in terms of chemistry (synthesis and analytical characterization), including instrumentation for physico-chemical characterization (MS, MR, UV-vis, IR, ICP-MS, HPLC, peptide synthetizers, etc.), in terms of preclinical imaging systems, covering all the imaging modalities (low and high field MRI scanners, optical, ultrasound, PET-SPECT-CT and photoacoustic scanners, and in terms of biology laboratories (cell cultures and animal models preparation, including transgenic animal models).

How to reach us

The UOS Torino is located in Via Nizza 52, Torino, about 1 km from Porta Nuova Railway Station and 3 km from Porta Susa Railway Station.

The site can be reached by underground transportation (direction Lingotto, stop: Nizza).
