GRADUATION: degree in Biological Sciences cum laude (1986), University of Catania, Italy. EDUCATION and TRAINING: qualification as a Biologist (1987); Research fellowship at CNR (1989-91); Researcher at CNR (1994). PRESENT POSITION: Senior Researcher at CNR (2001); Appointed Responsible of the Research unit of Catania of the CNR-IBB (2002-2017); contract Professor Laboratory of chemical Synthesis of Proteins Master (Magistral) Degree Course in Biomolecular Chemistry (since the A. Y. 2004/2005). INSTITUTION VISITED (STUDY TOURS): University of Saarland, Germany (1997), University of Debrecen, Hungary (2004, 2006, 2008,). Project Leaderships: Miur-Grant n196 (2004); Miur-FIRB RBIN04L28Y (2006); Miur-FIRB RBPR05JH2P (2009); Miur-FIRB RBNE08HWLZ (2011). RESEARCH INTERESTS: synthesis, conformational analysis, NMR spectroscopy and metal ion interactions of peptides and glycopeptides. Cell and tissue delivery of biologically active compounds. He is presently studying the role of metal-peptide interactions in neurodegenerative disorders and type 2 diabetes. He is co-author of more than 95 publications on international journals.
