Menotti Ruvo was born in Avellino on 20/04/1964. He graduated in Chemistry at the University Federico II, Napoli. At present he is staff senior scientist at the Istituto di Biostrutture e Bioimmagini of CNR, via Mezzocannone, 16, Napoli. Menotti Ruvo has a 10-year long experience as researcher in the industry (1991-2001). He was employed as senior scientist at Tecnogen SpA, and as Associate Director at Xeptagen SpA. He has a background in peptide and protein chemistry and has a specific expertise in the development of new bioactive molecules of peptidic and peptidomimetic nature, in the preparation and screening of peptide/peptoid libraries and in the structural and functional characterization of biomolecules by biochemical methods. He is also has an experience in developing and characterizing monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against targets of therapeutic and diagnostic interest. He is involved in several research projects, including the development of small modified peptides targeting the Gadd45b-MKK7 interaction, peptoids against VEGFR1, peptoids against Cripto, peptide inhibitor of the enzyme APEH, MAbs targeting the E1/E2 proteins of HCV and MAbs targeting Cripto-Nodal. He is author of about 70 papers on international journals and is co-inventor of about 20 patents. He serves as referee for more than 20 international journal and for the evaluation of grants at national and international level.
