Luca D'Andrea obtained the Degree in Chemistry (Summa cum Laude) at the University of Naples "Federico II" (Italy) in 1995, the Ph. D. in Chemistry at the University of Naples "Federico II" in 1999. Then he was Postdoctoral associate at Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry Yale University USA under the supervision of Prof. L. Regan. Since 2001 Luca D'Andrea is Research Scientist at the Istituto di Biostrutture e Bioimmagini of CNR.

The scientific interests of Dr. D'Andrea are in the area of peptide and protein chemistry. The research activity has focused on the design, synthesis and characterization of peptide/peptidomimetics and small proteins mainly targeting protein? protein interaction. The designed molecules could find application as therapeutic/diagnostic agents or as molecular tools to modulate biological processes. Recently, the scientific activity also includes the analysis of folding in peptides and protein motif and the use of expressed protein ligation for biophysical and chemical biology applications. Dr. DAndrea has been recipient of regional, national (PRIN) and international grants (HFSP). He received in 1999 a NATO-CNR Advanced Fellowship, and a CNR award for the research activity in 2005.
