Born in Rome on 4th September 1968. 1994, February: Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". 1994-95: Post-lauream training at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Dept. of Cellular Biology and Development. 1995, July: On a fellowship at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Dept. of Cellular Biology and Development. 1995-99: On a fellowship for a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, at University of Naples "Federico II". 2000: Contract at the National Council of Research (Center of Biocrystallography), Naples. 2001: Researcher at the C. N. R., Biostructure and Bioimaging Institute, Naples. The research activities of Dr. Di Gaetano have been focused in the fields of molecular biology, cellular biology and biological chemistry. More recently she was interested in the design and functional characterization of oligonucleotide analogs. She was the project leader of a project funded by regional institutions entitled In vitro and in vivo production of the recombinant amyloidogenic protein ApoA-1 (1-93) by adenoviral expression vectors; analysis of fibrils formation mechanism. She participates (or has participated) in several MIUR projects.
