After his degree in Medicine and Surgery and postgraduate in Gastrointestinal Tract Surgery, Oncology, General Surgery, he joined ITBM-CNR in 1989, since 2001 at ISIB-CNR and now at IBB-CNR. Since 1996 he is Senior Researcher; his major research interests has been on Vascular Access and now on Technologies applied to surgery and oncology. Campisi has been specifically trained in Chongqing, China, for HAIFU treatment in specific oncologic fields and he also addressed his scientific interests to three-dimensional modeling of medical devices and to practical realization of prototypes and prostheses in small series with 3D printers, customized on CT and MRI images.
