Inter-patient elastic image registration (EIR) has been
recently exploited in Radiation Therapy to investigate regional dose
differences in patients classified according to a given radiation-induced
morbidity (RIM) end point. In this study we evaluated the overall impact of two
state-of-the-art EIR algorithms (B-spline and Demons) on the final output of a
voxel-based analysis, confirming that the regions of significant dose
differences associated with RIM are consistently highlighted by using each of
the algorithms.
