Research areas:
As Medical Physicist and Research Scientist, my research activity has constantly been focused on the Physics of Radiation Oncology.
Main topics of expertise are:
- external beam radiotherapy, including intensity-modulated and particle beam radiotherapy;
- ionizing radiation dosimetry;
- modelling radiation induced normal tissue effects.
My current research interest is addressed in clinical radiobiology, quantitative analyses and modelling radiation induced normal tissue effects developing predictive models, which adopt advanced statistical modelling methods. Specifically, the most recent research activity has been dedicated to image based modelling approaches, incorporating machine-learning methods, for clinical radiobiological studies and for radiation therapy optimization.
