Dr. Stefania De Luca graduated in Chemistry from the University of Naples Federico II in 1996. From 1999 to 2002, she undertook a PhD in Chemical Sciences supported by a research fellowship. From January to August 2001, she was a Scientific Visitor at the University of Southampton, UK, where she worked in the research group of Professor Mark Bradley on the synthesis of peptide libraries in both solid phase and solution.
In February 2002, she completed her PhD degree in Chemical Sciences at the University of Naples Federico II. From 2002 to 2004, she worked as a Graduate Technician at the Faculty of Biotechnological Sciences, University of Naples. Between 2005 and 2006, she held a research grant at the Neuroscience Laboratory “Rita Levi-Montalcini.” In 2006, she obtained a fixed-term position as a CNR Researcher in Chemistry.
From 2007 to 2011, Dr. De Luca served as Principal Investigator of the Synthetic Unit within the project “Chemokine Receptor as Biological Markers.”
In September 2018, she served as a member of the PhD committee at the University of La Rioja, Spain.
In May 2019, she was awarded a grant for a PhD course carried out in collaboration with industry.
She has extensive expertise in solid-phase and solution-phase synthesis of peptides and organic molecules, as well as in the synthesis of metal–ion complexes. Her experience also includes synthetic procedures conducted under solvent-free conditions and using microwave irradiation.
Dr. De Luca is the author of scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and patents. She has served as a referee for several ACS Journals and other international scientific journals. She has also supervised and tutored several PhD students throughout their research training.
